Learning How to Pray, Part 2

So, in the time since I wrote the post "Learning how to pray", I've come to a few realizations and had some time to think. I'd like to say, "...time to pray", but in reality, it was more just letting my thoughts wander and hoping God was listening in. So we'll call it thinking. And now, where to start? Prayer isn't always answered the way we think it should be, and that should be okay. See, that's all part of faith. I mean, sure, sometimes faith is about believing that the sun will stand still. But sometimes faith means knowing that even if the sun doesn't stand still, God still knows what he's doing. I forget so often that I don't always know what's best, I don't have the advantage of seeing the end result. But more than that, I forget the faith part, the part that says even if I don't get it, it's still okay. An example: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Or, if you are a talking vegetable , "Rack, Shack, and Ben...

Go, now! :)

Okay, I don't normally do this, but you have to read Tally's post tonight. Preachin' on paper! :) Seriously, it's awesome... On Tally's post tonight: "What about where our 'neighbors' live? Will their kids have any food? Will they be the victim of a drive-by shooting? Will a husband beat his wife? Are the children receiving an education? Does anyone care?" " If we care, everything matters. Every action, addiction or behavior that causes people to experience hell on earth should be confronted. Jesus matters. His Salvation and his Kingdom matters."

One more day in Cradock

I was in my 'second hometown' today, as I'm coaching the Cradock team for girl's softball, and we had practice today. I'd been at my house less than five minutes when it all broke out. I came out of the house to screams and a massive group of people standing on a street corner. A mix of black and white, young and old. As a girl and a guy started screaming at each other, very loudly, something caught my eye. Another, smaller group was running the way everyone had just left. Some carried scraps of lumber, one guy had a bat. The girl that was screaming panicked and turned her screaming on them. They ignored her and ran past, heading to a house with a lot of people. There was a lot of screaming, a lot of yelling. Sadly, it was typical Cradock, and as the summer comes closer it will only get worse. Today, though, as I dialed 911 from the street corner, something else was moving on the outer edge of the crowds. I turned, and saw a young woman, fear plain on he...

A Twitter of this, a Twitter of that...

Okay, so I'm the type that if I see something and I don't know what it is, I'm going to check it out. Some of my favorite discoveries have been made in this way: Facebook, paypal, Kiva, etc. And so, the latest "what the heck is that?" adventure is Twitter. I haven't got all the details figured out yet, but so far it's pretty cool. Go check it out at Twitter.com and follow me here . Make sure to set up your phone (unlimited texting is great!), because that's when it's really fun. Standing at the gas station when a random thought hits you? Text it! It takes so little time to set everything up, it's awesome!! Let me know if you guys get on Twitter. (JENN! lol) Soon I will check out Flickr. What the heck is a Flickr anyway?
